Well that was unexpected. The Boston Bruins without Patrice Bergeron, without Adam McQuaid, and without Kevan Miller came out like a bat out of hell. They overcame a 2-0 deficit to beat the Columbus Blue Jackets 6-3. 2 minutes in David Backes showed one of the main reasons the Bruins acquired him. It was still the first few minutes of the first period and the Bruins had lots of pressure on the Blue Jackets net. A scrum ensued with Backes fighting for position in front of the net. He got into a shoving match with Josh Anderson, and was ready to drop the gloves. He’s already a guy I think I am going to love battle it out each shift. Backed also scored two goals, and had one assist. Overall it was a great debut for the new acquisition. Young winger David Pastrnak had two goals, and two assist. Now we save the best for last. The team’s leading scorer from the previous year started the new season off with a bang. Brad Marchand had two goals, and an extraordinary three assist. Marchand talked about the comeback saying,”I think the big thing about tonight we have to take away is the character we showed. It’s a lot of fun when you come back from 2-0 deficit and win.” Now the Bruins are off to Toronto to face the Maple Leafs, and absolute phenom Auston Matthews. Tuukka we’re gonna need a hell of a game from you.
