God, I love seeing the Penguins lose. Last night they lost 5-3 to the New York Islanders. Former Boston Bruin Johnny Boychuk started off the scoring for the Islanders netting his 3rd goal of the season. The Penguins were plagued by a lack of discipline on Wednesday night. The team committed 5 penalties that included a bench minor for having too many men on the ice and a delay of game face-off violation. Those are just things that can’t happen if you want to win. On the bright side, Evgeni Malkin scored his 9th goal of the season for Pittsburgh. The Islanders blew a three-goal lead in the 3rd period but regained the lead and held on to win. I would say it wasn’t the Penguins who came back it was just the Islanders easing up with the lead. Anders Lee scored the game-winning goal with 27 seconds left. The goal was his 5th of the season. “We had that puck luck,” Lee said. “We just have to grind it out. Tonight we were able to come through with a game-winning goal. Was a great shot and I was able to tip in. We’ve faced enough adversity for a season. Tonight we were able to find a way.” The Islanders visit the Washington Capitals tonight and then have a three-game homestand.
