The Boston Bruins were able to come out on top 1-0 in a game with little action, this afternoon at TD garden.
The Bruins better get the contract extension ready as Jimmy Hayes scored his second goal of the season on a deflection of a shot from defenseman Colin Miller. Hayes would have had his first assist since February 22nd as Miller was originally awarded with the goal, but it was given to Hayes upon further review of the play. Tuukka Rask saved 18 shots in a game that he wasn’t really tested coming away with his 4th shutout of the season (34th career). Rask improves his season record to 16-5-3 and the Bruins end their 3- game home losing streak to bring them back to.500 at home (8-8).
Peter Budaj had a good game as well coming away with 29 saves, but his team wasn’t able to generate any offense on the other end as his record on the season drops to 14-8-2. This is the fourth time this season the Kings have been shutout and it doesn’t get any easier for them as they continue their 9-game road trip with a game against the Columbus Blue Jackets, who have won 9 straight games, on Tuesday night.
Hayes’ goal proved to be the game-winner and the Bruins build some much needed momentum heading into their next game when the New York Islanders come to town on Tuesday night.
