Isaiah Thomas was absolutely balling on Tuesday night versus the Memphis Grizzlies. The Celtics beat the Grizzlies 112-109 in a game that couldn’t be contained to 4 quarters.
Isaiah just went off. He had 44 points and 6 assists. He was on fire from long range going 7-10 from three-point range and hit an incredible 17 out of 17 free throws. The 44 points was a career high and scored 36 of his 44 points in the 2nd half. His seven three-pointers was also a career high. Al Horford also had a great game securing his second double-double of the season with 17 points and 14 rebounds. Isiah talked after the game saying “It took everybody’s effort, we just fought it out. It was a grind-it-out win,” Thomas told CSNNE’s Kyle Draper after the win. “We didn’t give up. This is probably the biggest win of the year for us. My team needed me to score, my team needed me to make plays. They got me open. Coach put me in position to be successful, and I just took it from there.”
The Grizzlies relied on big man Marc Gasol throughout the game. Gasol had 24 points 7 rebounds and 6 assists. It was also a big game off the bench for guard Troy Daniels who had 24 points.
If Isaiah can keep up this play the Celtics can contend for a #2 seed in the Eastern Conference. With Horford being a beast on the boards the C’s are looking to look like a tough team to go up against. Right now Isaiah is averaging 25.9 points which would be a career high. He has really become a star here in Boston and someone who might be able to bring a championship to Boston.
The Celtics are now 16-12 on the season and finish a three-game road trip in Indiana versus the Pacers on Thursday night.
