The Bruins came out firing and showed the great potential of this team defeating the Blues 5-3.
Frank Vatrano was the American sniper blowing one past Blues goalie Jake Allen for his 3rd goal of the season. Then defensman Brandon Carlo scored the 3rd goal of the season. He has shown to be an incredible defenseman and looks to be a potential top tier defenseman. The final goal of the first period was scored by Brad Marchand. He had two goals in the game to extend his season total to 15. “I thought we had a really good game all the way through, especially with a few guys going down, `Backs’ being in the box for 17 minutes,” Marchand said. “I thought the guys responded really well.” Marchand has been on a tear as of late and joins goalie Tuukka Rask as all star game representatives for the Bruins. Finally Torey Krug scored his 2nd goal of the season.
The game was David Backes return to St.Louis after he signed with the Bruins in the offseason. Backes made his prescence known in the second period when David Krejci was hit and Backes was not pleased and proceeded to fight Joel Edmundson. Backes recieved an instigator and a 10 minute misconduct. “I felt like they were trying to get the game back by trying to intimidate us and hitting us all over the place and I don’t think it really matters how it happens,” Backes said. “It’s kind of, we’ve got to put an end to this, so I tried to put an end to it.””You always want to step up for your teammate and `Backs’ the way he plays for our team and the things he does every night, it’s great to be able to go to battle for him and come up with a win for him,” Brad Marchand added.
Next up for the Bruins is the Nashville Predators on Thursday night.
