Thomas Drains Game Winner; Celtics Defeat Hawks 103-101

Al Horford made his return to Atlanta tonight and the Celtics came out determined to win as they shot down the Hawks 103-101 in a spectacular shooting performance.

The first quarter was all about the Celtics as they shot the lights out hitting 8 of their 17 three-pointers in that quarter alone. Boston went on a shooting montage and everyone was hitting from deep as they held a 10-point lead (28-18) heading into the second quarter.

The C’s cooled down in the second half and the Hawks were able to close in on them and move the score closer to end the half. Kent Baezmore got the Hawks back into the game with some high-energy play but Kelly Olynyk led all scorers with 18 points off the bench for the Celtics. The score heading into halftime was 48-44, Celtics but Atlanta definitely controlled the momentum and looked to carry that into the second.

Instead of the Hawks continuing their high-energy play in the second half, they let the Celtics get hot again and up their lead to as big as 20 points. Isaiah Thomas started to catch fire and hit a couple of three point shots to start the quarter and Boston continued to run away with the game. Atlanta was able to go on an 8-1 run to end the quarter and brought the game to 78-65 heading into the final quarter.

Isaiah Thomas has been the best player in the NBA this season when it comes to thr fourth quarter and the King of the fourth came alive again. IT put down 13 of his 28 points, including a tough fade-away jumper to end the game, in the fourth quarter to help the Celtics hang on to their lead and win the game 103-101.

Tim Hardaway Jr., who finished the night with 23 points off the bench, caught fire in the final quarter and single handedly brought the Hawks back into the game. Paul Milsap (23 points, 5 rebounds & 6 assists) was able to tie the game on a 3-pointer, but IT responded with his cold-blooded game winner.

IT (28 points and 9 assists) was cold pretty much the entire game except the fourth quarter, but his teammates were there to pick up the slack. Jae Crowder ended with 18 points and 9 rebounds, Al Horford finished with 10 points, 6 rebounds and 6 assists, and Kelly Olynyk played some huge minutes off the bench and ended up with 26 points and 8 rebounds.

The Celtics really wanted to get a win in this game for their new teammate Al Horford and they were able to do just that as they shot well for most of the game. Atlanta made a pretty convincing comeback bid, but the king of the fourth struck again and ended the game for Boston:
