Bruins Blown Out By Islanders

Just when the Bruins looked to be on the up and up but they have definitly taken a step back. The Bruins were shutout by the New York Islanders 4-0.

The Islanders had a scoring outburst in the second period. Nikolay Kulemin scored two goals to extend his season total to 7. Also Josh Bailey scored his 6th goal of the season. In the third period the final nail in the coffin was a shorthanded goal from Jason Chimera which was his 8th goal of the season. Finally Thomas Greiss had an incredible game stopping all 32 shots. It was Greiss first shutout of the season.

The Bruins just had a horrible game. Tuukka Rask did not look like himself as he was pulled after two periods. The team was left by thundering boo’s from the TD Garden crowd. “We let them down by our effort,” Boston captain Zdeno Chara said. “We felt we were ready to go, but we were flat,” Boston coach Claude Julien added. Defenseman Colin Miller was out for his third straight game due to a lower body injury. Also Kevin Miller was out with a concussion from a hit on Saturday versus the Flyers.

The Bruins play the Detroit Red Wings on Wednesday.
