This season has been a great one for the Washington Capitals. They have a 32-9-6 record and are standing atop the Eastern Conference. They added another win as they beat the Carolina Hurricanes 6-1.
Jordan Staal was the lone scorer for the Hurricanes. He scored the first goal of the game and it was his 10th goal of the season. It was a rough night for Carolina goalie Cam Ward who allowed all 6 goals.
The Capitals have been one of the top scoring teams in the league. Justin Williams scored his 17th goal of the season. T.J. Oshie also scored his 18th goal of the season in the third period. “We got all four lines rolling and with our depth and our ability when every line’s going, we’re tough to stop,” said Oshie, who’s second to Ovechkin on the team in goals with 18. “Things are going well right now.” Braden Holtby had a great game with 25 saves and now has 23 wins this season. Defenseman Dmitry Orlov had a phenomenal game scoring two goals to bring his season total to 4 goals.
The Capitals have now won 3 straight games and haven’t lost a game in regulation since Dec.27. In the past eight games, Washington has scored 44 goals.
The Caps play back to back games as they face the Ottawa Senators tonight.
